Life & Career Milestones
My path in life has been direct
1.
Growing up in Alabama, I developed a love for science, inspired by my mother’s background in biology and chemistry.
2.
I pursued environmental engineering at MIT and was intrigued by its blend of biology, chemistry, and problem-solving.
3.
After earning my master’s degree at the University of Michigan, I worked in semiconductor manufacturing at Texas Instruments for a decade.
4.
Realizing business decisions often outweighed engineering ones, I pursued an MBA at MIT Sloan, focusing on entrepreneurship and finance.
5.
My time in government, under Governors Patrick and Baker, allowed me to help shape Massachusetts’ clean energy policies.
6.
I co-founded Browning the Green Space to drive diversity, equity, and inclusion in the clean energy and climate tech sectors.
7.
I then launched the Maji Project and Malaika Ventures, committing my support to Black and Brown founders in climate technology.
Defining Moments
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Going to MIT was a big deal where I came from, so I really felt the pressure of the community behind me. I wish that I could've taken a break and relaxed a little bit more through my educational journey.
