Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Myself:
I don't know that I experienced true discouragement but coming out of high school I thought I was going to be a medical doctor. I ended up going to college for environmental studies, working in communities and continuing an education in public admin.
How I responded:
Life is not linear! It's important to stay focused and keep forging ahead. Failure is not an option, changing courses in life happens and should be expected.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
My parents had limited college education as neither of them completed a degree. My father was military and my mother was an elected official for a period of time. They wanted the most for us but had challenges navigating the college entrance process.
