My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Moved from Central Ohio to Washington DC with no defined career goal.
2.
Being laid off 3 times from my first 3 jobs. First the telecom bubble of the early 2000's sunk the Telecom company I started with, then a year later the company I joined then the housing crisis.
3.
Got married, bought a home.
4.
Got my CPA licence.
5.
Left my comfy small firm for PwC.
6.
Worked for the PCAOB and got my regulatory experience.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
You are too old to change careers to audit, auditing is a young person's profession (I was 29).
How I responded:
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Excerpt from Max Ehrmann's ~ Desiderata
