Life & Career Milestones

My path in life has been direct

  • 1.

Parents wanted me to be a doctor, but I wanted to build things that would help people.

  • 2.

I went to college to join Biomedical Engineering program with a pre-med track (compromise).

  • 3.

I learned I like building things more and did not want to go to med school.

  • 4.

I graduated and found a job at a start-up building things that would help people in the hospital.

  • 5.

Then, I got hooked on start-ups because they allowed me to contribute at a greater scale.

  • 6.

Now I'm a Sr. Engineer, at PROFUSA (start-up), developing the next big thing in digital health.

Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Family:

You should be a doctor, lawyer, or be in finance because they make a good living and it's very stable.

  • How I responded:

Show your doubters what lengths you will take to achieve your goals and your passion (prove it!). Give an example of how your concrete efforts will equate to a greater good or meet your mark (someone else who made it!). Have a plan and a backup plan which actually means: Set reasonable goals and then keep challenging them or making new ones.
