Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Myself:
I think my noise came from myself. I really enjoyed theater in high school, but I was not a performer. I didn't know how to make a career out of it.
How I responded:
Turns out there are lots of ways to be involved in the arts without being the art. I just needed to think about the other options. I did explore this path after college and decided that it ultimately wasn't what I wanted to do, but I feel empowered that I researched and came to this conclusion. It gave me the knowledge I needed to seek out professionals to interview to figure out what I did want to do.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I would say to start interviewing people who do things you are interested in. Ask them what their jobs are like and how they got where they are. And don't feel like whatever you choose has to be forever. We are all allowed to change our minds.
