Life & Career Milestones

My path in life took a while to figure out

  • 1.

I went to law school straight after undergrad but I could tell very quickly that my perspective on the material wasn’t the same as my fellow students—it just didn’t really resonate with me.

  • 2.

I decided to go back for my second year and was able to get more into intellectual property law, which I enjoyed a lot more.

  • 3.

I didn’t pass the bar exam but decided to see what other opportunities came up—I ended up taking a non-attorney role at a small patent law firm.

  • 4.

That role made me want to transition into the tech industry.

  • 5.

Once I moved into tech, I took on program management roles for companies like Amazon Lab126 and Oculus VR.

  • 6.

Now I lead the legal program management team for the Reality Labs legal team at Meta.

  • I worked at a law firm early in my career that was pretty conservative, so I didn't feel comfortable sharing the queer aspect of my identity. It was stressful and made going to work unenjoyable. Know that it's okay to bring your whole self to work.
